What can I do to maximise the effect of subliminal messaging?

Im doing experiments on the effect of subliminal messaging on a person playing poker and I want to know if the messages have to be inaudible or if they can still be effective if they can be heard but not understandable. Currently I am playing the subliminals in some music but they can be heard and I cant find any sources online to confirm whether thats ok or if it reduces effectiveness.

Hypnosis Feedback: They can be just as effective if you hear them in your sleep. A subliminal message is just that.
